Residency Program Requirements

2023-2024 Applicants

ADEA PASS Application

Applicants must submit the following items through PASS:

  • Undergraduate college transcripts
  • CV/Resume
  • Dental Admissions Test (DAT) score

Please wait until the program contacts you regarding receipt of your ADEA PASS application to submit the required supplemental information.

Applicants must also submit a 2” x 2” photo to the program via email. Temple applicants are required to pay an additional supplemental application fee of $25.00. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Our Pediatric Dental Residency Programs Emphasize:

  • Developing competency in the prevention and management of oral-facial health problems of children and adolescents.
  • Instilling the ability to provide comprehensive oral health care for patients with emotional, intellectual, or psychological disabilities.
  • Providing an understanding of the biological basis for pediatric dentistry and the application of scientific knowledge to clinical practice.
  • Developing an understanding of research principles, knowledge of published literature, the ability to critically evaluate research literature, and to make a contribution in the advancement of pediatric dentistry.
  • Developing creativity, the desire for new skills and the ability to coordinate with members of other health care disciplines to provide innovative care for pediatric dental patients.
  • Developing practical administrative skills to provide efficient provision of dental health care.
  • Developing educational and teaching skills to prepare for assignments as mentors in education programs.
  • Developing an understanding of general concepts and principles of pharmacology, anesthetic drugs, pre-operative patient assessment, monitoring, recordkeeping, discharge instructions, and best practices for managing complications.
  • Developing operating room skills including airway management, IV placement, full-mouth rehabilitation, and intubation.
  • Developing competency with a number of restorative materials as well as isolation techniques and digital film technology.

The program in pediatric dentistry is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation has accredited the program in pediatric dentistry. However, accreditation of the program does not in itself constitute recognition of any dental specialty status.
