About the Program

Healthy teeth, healthy smiles, and healthy communities. That’s what matters to us here at Pediatric Dental Associates. Through our pediatric dentistry residency program operated in partnership with Cooper University Hospital, we’re giving dental professionals the opportunity to brighten the smiles of the future.

Cooper University Hospital’s two-year Pediatric Dental Residency Program is a postgraduate certificate program that emphasizes practical skills development through clinical, didactic, teaching, and research fundamentals. It offers clinical experience in comprehensive dental care on both in- and outpatient levels for children from infancy through adolescence.

The program is a collaborative learning experience with participation by the staff of Cooper University Hospital, departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Anesthesia, Pediatric Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Cleft and Craniofacial Program and Special Smiles, LLC.

Additionally, Cooper University Hospital Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Program provides residents with exposure to various phases of craniofacial and cleft palate treatment planning. Didactic courses are run through the program’s attendings and cover all aspects of pediatric dentistry. Outside lectures and enrichment programs are also offered to supplement the residents with information not typically covered by pediatric dentistry curriculum.

Cooper University Hospital’s Advanced Education Residency in Pediatric Dentistry satisfies the educational requirements for advanced specialty education in Pediatric Dentistry as prescribed by the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. The Cooper Residency Program offers 3 positions per year.

The program in pediatric dentistry is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation has accredited the program in pediatric dentistry.
